KUALA LUMPUR: Seventeen past and present Miss Malaysia will wear about RM3mil worth of earrings, necklaces and other accessories from Habib Jewels at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) charity fashion show next month.

Habib Jewels' general manager Gary Joseph said the beauty queens would wear other accessories such as rings and the traditional kerongsang according to their outfits.

“One or two of the kerongsang will be antique pieces, bearing a 1902 design, while some will be made of diamonds. Each kerongsang can cost RM5,000 upwards,” he said ata photo shoot for the beauty queens yesterday.

Joseph said although there was no specific theme to the jewellery to be worn by the women, the fashion show would be a good way to promote the baju kebaya and its accessories.

Among the beauties taking part in the show include Nancie Foo, Datin Fauziah Harun, Heidi Hamid, Maggie Loo and newly-crowned Miss Malaysia Chinese International 2003 Rachel Tan Weng Kim.

Yayasan Wanita Cemerlang chairman Rosalind Lee Suy Ting said although Tan was now in Hong Kong, the 20-year-old law student would be back in time for the Feb 14 show.
