Lisa Surihani takes on her first horror movie role


Local sweetheart Lisa Surihani, who once said she was not a fan of horror movies, took up the challenge to act in one after listening to her husband Yusry Abdul Halim's advice. Yusry gave the 28-year-old actress a lot of encouragement to break out from her comfort zone. "He said if I wish to be a competent actor, I must be brave to try and act in different roles even if in a movie genre I dislike," she said. The actress will be starring in horror flick Dendam Orang Mati, directed by Jason Chong.

Some 187 out of 442 bazaar stalls in Seksyen 24 of uptown Shah Alam were destroyed in a fire Wednesday morning (Oct 15). Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Amer Haizal Sahek said the stalls were too close together and the flames spread quickly. It took more than two hours to put out the fire. Total losses were estimated at RM19mil.
