The other Covid-19 battle: Fighting stigma when you’re infected

Not your usual disease: For Covid-19, there is a double level of grief and guilt involved because patients ask themselves if they passed the virus to others. — Filepic/The Star

ADMINISTRATIVE officer Amalina, 25, is currently being treated following a positive result after a routine Covid-19 swab at work. It is an especially difficult time for the family as both of Amalina’s parents and three other family members also tested positive.

Amalina is open about her experience of having Covid-19 as she believes it is important to create awareness, especially since she is asymptomatic, has not travelled to or from a red zone, and the authorities have yet to determine the source of the infection.
