PETALING JAYA: Three Malaysians - Ho Shu Xin from Ipoh, Pua E Rick and Sydny Lum Shen Li from Kuala Lumpur - will be joining the Harvard College class of 2027.

The three are among the international students selected from across 102 countries to attend Harvard College, and international students make up 14.5% out of the 1,942 students admitted.

The College received a total of 56,937 applications, with a 3.41% acceptance rate.

Ho completed her SPM from SMJK Ave Maria Convent, Ipoh, Pua completed his SPM at Sekolah Menengah Sri KDU and Lum completed her IGCSE at Cempaka International School.

Both Ho and Pua are currently completing their A-Levels at Kolej Yayasan UEM while Lum is an A-Level student at Garden International School (GIS).

Ho is a Yayasan Khazanah scholar and intends to major in Educational Psychology. Pua will pursue studies in Biological Sciences and Lum, a GIS scholar is planning to major in Economics.

On the admissions, Harvard alumni interviewer Wan Nadiah Wan Mohd Abdullah Yaakob said that the university searches for students who have growth and potential and who would benefit from access to the resources at Harvard to create positive change for the world.

“These are students who either have a deep interest or passion in a particular area or activity and who have managed to accomplish something with the resources currently at their disposal," she said.

“The best interviews we have are not really interviews but rather they are good conversations amongst peers," said the President of the Harvard Club of Malaysia.
