WHILE waiting for the Covid-19 travel ban to be lifted, Malaysians intending to study in Germany can already prepare themselves through the Dual Vocational Training (DVT) programme.
The programme, run by German Educare, a service provider assisting students in their transition to study and work in Germany, allows students to hone their language and cultural skills in Malaysia before leaving for Germany.
Through this programme, students learn technical and vocational skills in fields such as mechatronics, electronics, software engineering/IT and nursing, after completing German language classes in Malaysia that are in accordance with international syllabi taught by certified professionals.
When students arrive in Germany, they will be attached to a leading company in their technical field of choice for practical, on-the-job training while simultaneously studying in a vocational school and getting a monthly allowance.
Upon completion of the programme, students will have the option to work with them full time or move to a different company in Germany, utilising their new certifications and qualifications that are easily transferable within the region.
University fees for international students in Germany is among the cheapest in the world – even free for many public colleges.
The DVT programme, a pillar of Germany’s economic success, offers its graduates a guarantee of job placement upon completion, as well as a start to their career within the technical industries of Europe, said German Educare director Jonathan Lau in a press release.
“The DVT programme was launched to highlight the skills gap in various vocational and technical fields in Germany, and how the country’s economy and government are extremely open to foreign talent to fill these positions.
“We aim to help pair talented Malaysian students with leading companies in Germany, and set them up for success through language classes, cultural training workshops, visa applications, post-arrival assistance and more,” he added.
