Kulai cops nab senior citizen, seize 60,000 litres of subsidised diesel


KULAI: Police arrested a senior citizen and seized more than 60,000 litres of subsidised diesel in a raid here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tan Seng Lee said they raided a building on Jalan Tee Yeck San in Saleng here at about 11.30am on Thursday (Nov 30).

“We detected the smuggling and illegal selling of subsidised diesel. A 67-year-old local man was also arrested during the raid.

“We also seized a full tank of diesel with a capacity of 40,000 litres, 14 fully filled intermediate bulk containers (IBC) with a capacity of 1,000 litres each, 11 empty IBC and three skid tanks with each containing between 900 litres and 10,000 litres of diesel,” he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 1).

He added that they also seized a trailer head, two lorries, three electrical oil pumps, four CCTVs, a video recorder and one router.

“The total value of items seized, including the diesel, is RM425,251.

“The suspect and the items have been handed over to an investigating officer from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry for further action,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which carries a maximum fine of RM1mil or imprisonment of up to three years, or both, upon conviction.
