Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohd Yazid Sairi is urging city folk to fly the Jalur Gemilang with pride in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day.

“I urge traders, local communities and residents to fly the national flag at their premises and on vehicles throughout National Month.

“The Jalur Gemilang is more than a piece of cloth, it represents the dignity, sovereignty and identity of the nation.

“Fly it with pride rather than merely as part of an annual routine,” he said at the launch of Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) “Kibar Jalur Gemilang” (fly the flag) campaign, which will run until Sept 16, at Dewan Sivik MBPJ.

As part of the campaign, 6,000 Jalur Gemilang will be installed and distributed throughout the city.

Of these, 1,000 will be installed along protocol roads and at MBPJ premises and focal points, while another 5,000 will be distributed to councillors and council employees.

Mohd Yazid said two giant Jalur Gemilang were also being displayed at Menara MBPJ.
