GREATER workplace flexibility, helping women return to work and strengthen the care economy are among areas being considered for Selangor’s next women’s policy.
State women empowerment and welfare committee chairman Anfaal Saari said a new Women’s Policy and Action Plan (2027-20231) was being prepared.
She said it would assess achievements, performance indicators and programme effectiveness of the existing 2024-2026 plan to determine which initiatives should be continued, expanded, improved or restructured.
“The state government will use previous findings from studies and programmes as the basis for developing the policy,” she said during the Selangor State Assembly sitting at Bangunan Dewan Negri Selangor in Shah Alam, yesterday.
She was responding to Pua Pei Ling (PH-Bukit Lanjan) who asked about achievements under the current plan, whether its performance indicators had been met and the state’s strategy after it ends this year.
Anfaal said another focus would be strengthening women’s economic participation by widening access to financing, markets, technology and entrepreneurship opportunities.
She said this would include helping women entrepreneurs use digitalisation and artificial intelligence to improve their business.
On the 2024-2026 plan, Anfaal said most performance indicators were positive.
The current plan has five focus areas and seven strategic goals covering gender mainstreaming, economy and livelihood, representation and leadership, safety and well-being as well as creativity and innovation.
