JOHOR’S first exclusive charter flight package from Senai International Airport to Taitung, Taiwan, is expected to give outbound travel a boost as demand for overseas holidays continues to grow.
Malaysian-Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) Johor chapter chairman Vin Ng said the association introduced the charter package, expected to kick off in December, in response to growing demand for more direct, convenient travel options.
“The introduction of the Taiwan charter package comes amid strong demand for outbound travel, particularly during the longer September and December school holidays.
“This is the first time we are offering a direct charter flight package from Senai to Taitung, giving travellers another destination that is easily accessible from Johor,” he said.
Ng said the five-day, four-night package was priced at RM4,699 per person, with a RM200 discount for bookings made during Malaysia International Travel Fair (MITM), bringing the price down to RM4,499.
He added that the association was also in discussion to introduce more chartered flights from Senai to selected cities in China and North-East Asia to further strengthen Johor’s international air connectivity.
“We expect outbound travel to grow significantly as families make use of the longer school holidays.
“Many Malaysians also prefer travelling at the end of the year because they want to experience winter,” added Ng.
He said China remained one of the most popular destinations among Malaysian travellers, adding that Malaysia was China’s third largest source market for inbound tourists after South Korea and Russia.
“Many Malaysians visit China more than once, with some travelling there an average of three times.
“Cruise holidays are also gaining popularity as more travellers look for different holiday experiences.”
Ng said MITM held last month attracted more than 20 travel agencies, tourism boards and airlines occupying 108 booths, representing a 10% increase in exhibitors compared with the previous edition.
He said MCTA hoped to continue working with airlines and tourism partners to introduce more direct charter flights from Senai, making Johor a stronger gateway for international travel while offering Malaysians greater convenience and a wider choice of destinations.
