Koperasi Komuniti Pulau Pinang Selatan Bhd (KKPPSB) has declared a 5% dividend payout for the 2025 financial year.

The announcement was made at its fourth annual general meeting (AGM) officiated by Penang trade and national unity committee chairman Goh Choon Aik in Bayan Lepas.

The cooperative also used the occasion to launch a range of ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products.

The halal-certified products comprise crispy anchovy sambal and cooking pastes for Penang fish curry, daging masak hitam and ayam masak ros, which are available for sale at KKPPSB’s Amarene Square office in Bayan Lepas.

KKPPSB chairman Mohd Kamal Abdullah said the cooperative has entered a new phase of growth through product innovation, and urged its members to show support.

He said members should act as ambassadors for the products and that sales would contribute to future dividends.

To mark the launch, the cooperative offered three promotional combo packages at the AGM.

Goh expressed admiration for KKPPSB’s move to expand beyond traditional cooperative activities through branded food production, adding that he would continue to support its market expansion efforts.

KKPPSB, established under the Social Impact Management Plan (SIMP), supports the socio-economic development of fishing communities linked to the Silicon Island project.

The cooperative has also outlined its plans for the 2026 financial year, which include operating beverage kiosks at strategic locations in Amarene Square, managing food courts and local canteens.

It will also continue the construction of fishermen’s sheds in Kampung Binjai as well as provide boats and engines to eligible fishermen under the SIMP scheme.

To date, KKPPSB has 1,391 members comprising civil servants, government-linked company staff, local residents and fishing communities from the southern coast of Penang island.

This year’s AGM saw 888 members in attendance.

Present were Malaysia Cooperative Societies Commission Penang director Dr Zainab A. Raman, Penang Infrastructure Corporation Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus, as well as KKPPSB treasurer Azmi Mohamad and secretary Mohd Perdaus Pawan Chik.

During the AGM, four children of members who scored well in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination received RM500 each in recognition of their achievements.

The recipients were Tan Chun Yan (SMK Chung Ling, 10As), Muhammad Hafiy Abu Hurairah (SMK Bukit Jambul, 9As), Muhammad Haziq Mu’izzuddin Khairudin (SMK Chalok, 8As) and Nur Dhia Addina Muhammad Affnan (SMA Maahad Al-Mashoor Al Islami, 7As).

The event ended with a lucky draw featuring 17 prizes, including two e-bikes, a washing machine and three television sets.
