Selangor government believes channelling financial assistance directly into verified recipients’ digital wallets can minimise leakages and improve efficiency of the “Kita Selangor” voucher programme.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the digital approach, with recipient verification and validated databases, ensured aid reached eligible recipients directly while reducing reliance on cash distribution.
“Leakages often occur when processes are done manually.
“In some instances, what is perceived as leakage may actually be due to human error,” he said at a press conference during the “Kita Selangor” programme launch under the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package at Bangunan Dewan Negeri in Shah Alam yesterday.
Amirudin said the system not only recorded transactions digitally but also enabled authorities to monitor how the assistance was utilised, ensuring that it benefitted those genuinely in need.
“In fact, we are able to determine whether recipients are actively using the assistance.
“If the aid remains unused over several cycles, their participation may be terminated on the assumption that they no longer require the support.”
He said the state government also cross-referenced data from the eKasih system, Social Welfare Department and Implementation Coordination Unit to ensure recipients had undergone the necessary verification process.
Amirudin also announced that the state government had launched registration for the Kita Selangor initiative to 50,000 eligible families, which would commence at noon today.
He said the application process would be conducted online for applicants’ convenience.
The families will receive RM100 per month for a period of six months.
Also at the event were Selangor women empowerment and welfare chairman Anfaal Saari and Selgate Corporation group chief executive Datuk Noor Hisham Mohd Ghouth.
