Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development is targeting more than 50,000 visitors for the Melaka Edition of its Make Malaysian Business Great Carnival (KHPM), at Morten Walk from today until Sunday.
The ministry said the carnival’s theme relating to “one district one industry” reflected its role as a key platform for strengthening entrepreneurship, expanding market access and creating networking opportunities for local businesses.
The three-day event will feature a range of programmes aimed at benefitting the public, particularly micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives, reported Bernama.
The ministry also expects a business matching session organised by SME Corp Malaysia to generate up to RM1mil in potential deals, with seven leading retail and wholesale companies having confirmed participation.
The sessions will run daily from 10am to 5pm throughout the carnival.
Among the main attractions is the “Jualan Madani”, offering 20% discounts on 60 essential household items including rice, flour, chicken, meat, eggs and cooking oil.
“A special happy hour promotion on June 21 will see selected essentials sold at up to 30% below market prices.
“The programme is expected to generate RM135,000 in sales over the three days,” the statement read.
Nine agencies under the ministry will also operate entrepreneurship consultation counters, providing information and assistance on financing, grants, training and capacity-building programmes.
The “one district one industry” initiative will be another key focus, showcasing products and services from local entrepreneurs.
The ministry said the carnival was expected to boost Melaka’s economy through increased business activity and demand for supporting sectors such as hospitality, F&B and transportation services.
Other activities include the Halal Success Programme, celebrity entrepreneur talks, e-sports competitions, outdoor film screenings, batik-making demonstrations, community Zumba sessions, decorated trishaw rides, an XPDC concert, treasure hunt and automotive and electric vehicle exhibitions.
