REPAIRS to a damaged road and slope following an underground pipe burst in Taman Saga, Ampang are expected to be completed within two weeks.
Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) Sdn Bhd issued an update after StarMetro, on June 10, highlighted residents’ concerns over delays in completing repairs at the Jalan Saga 12 and Jalan Saga 17 areas, which had affected access and raised safety concerns.
In the statement, IWK said several major components of the project had been completed.
These included clearing a drain beneath the affected area, diverting a sewer pipe, installing a 30m sheet pile retaining structure, repairing a rubble pitching wall and constructing a capping beam.
It said works involving backfilling, levelling, road repairs and installation of guard rails were underway and had reached about 50% completion.
Reinstatement works and site testing had also begun, IWK said, with the road to be reopened once all works have been completed and it was certified safe.
Addressing the delay, IWK said additional monitoring was required after repair works were carried out to ensure the stability and safety of structures.
It added that it had been monitoring leaks and rainwater seepage through the repaired stone wall following a complaint received on May 11.
IWK said frequent rainfall in May had affected progress.
Wet weather limited construction activities as concrete capping works required sufficient curing time before subsequent stages could proceed, the company said.
