RM7.8mil to upgrade 60 toilets in KL

KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) is allocating RM7.8mil to upgrade 60 public toilets with three-star and below ratings this year.

Mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud said most of these toilets are located in parks and public areas.

"Kuala Lumpur has 168 public toilets and 97 of them are rated below three stars by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT)

"For the first phase, we have allocated RM7.8mil of internal budget, on top of a KPKT budget, to refurbish 60 of these toilets.

"The remaining toilets will be refurbished next year," he said, during the launch of the KL Art Toilets pilot project at Plaza Batik, Jalan Tun Perak, Kuala Lumpur.

The initiative aims to transform urban public toilets by blending art, design, functionality and sustainability.

It will be expanded to two other high-traffic locations, Jalan Masjid India and Jalan Saloma, with each site featuring a unique identity through distinct design approaches.
