RESIDENTS at the Desa Mutiara People’s Housing Project (PPR) can now respond to emergencies faster with the launch of Johor’s first fire point facility.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu said the facility was equipped with rescue tools and emergency equipment for community firefighters.

“This is to enable community fire brigade members to provide early assistance before professional firefighters arrive at emergency scenes.

“The RM50,000 fire point is equipped with emergency response tools, including rescue hoses, community rescue boats, life jackets and other essential equipment,” she said at the “Sinergi Kasih Madani” programme at the PPR.

She said the government planned to introduce more fire point facilities in every state.

She added that the initiative, introduced under the Madani government, would be expanded following the positive response received.

During her visit, Aiman Athirah inspected several maintenance projects at the PPR and met residents to better understand issues affecting the community.

She said the ministry, through the National Housing Department, had channelled RM17.97mil under the Housing Maintenance Programme for 57 maintenance projects in Johor between 2023 and 2026.

Of that amount, RM1.91mil was allocated for six maintenance projects at the PPR, including sewer pipe replacement works, handrail repairs and rainwater drainage pipe upgrades.
