Women lawyers dominate inaugural Melaka bar darts tournament

MELAKA: Female lawyers and chambering students stole the limelight at the inaugural Melaka Bar Invitational Double Dart Tournament after sweeping the top honours and outshining their male counterparts in a display of precision, composure and competitive spirit.

Captain of the Melaka Bar Darters and organising chairman Nitin Kumar Gordhan said the women participants exceeded expectations with their determination and focus throughout the tournament.

Held at the Malacca Club on Saturday (May 23), the tournament brought together practising lawyers and chambering students from Johor, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Melaka in what organisers hope will become a signature sporting event within the southern legal fraternity.

Nitin said the event was also an avenue to promote mental and physical wellness among members of the legal profession, who often work in high-pressure environments.

"The legal profession can be demanding and stressful.

"Through events like this, we hope participants can unwind, maintain a healthy work-life balance and build stronger friendships with colleagues from other states,” he said.

Nitin added that the tournament also aimed to strengthen ties within the legal community while encouraging greater participation in organised recreational sports among lawyers and chambering pupils.
