In the spirit of compassion and community during Chinese New Year, Alliance for a Safe Community (Ikatan) paid a goodwill visit to Ti-Ratana Welfare Society in Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

During the visit, Ikatan executive committee members led by its chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, presented a RM5,000 donation to support the home and its residents’ daily needs.

Lam Thye presented the cheque to Ti-Ratana Welfare Society founder Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana.

Lam Thye said the contribution reflected Ikatan’s commitment to community care and social responsibility.

“Chinese New Year is a time of sharing, compassion and togetherness,” he said.

“Through this visit, Ikatan hopes to bring Ti-Ratana residents joy and support while recognising its meaningful work in caring for the underprivileged.”

Founded in 1994, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society is a charitable organisation that provides shelter and care for children, senior citizens and members of other vulnerable groups, while also offering community support programmes and medical outreach initiatives.

The home currently accommodates about 300 residents, including elderly folk, orphans and several bedridden residents who require daily nursing care and support.

Lam Thye hoped such initiatives could inspire greater community involvement and support for charitable organisations serving vulnerable groups in society.
