Children across Klang Valley enjoy meals, attend creative workshops and receive gifts

Several hotels in the Klang Valley opened their doors to bring joy to orphans during Ramadan.

Children from four charitable homes were treated to a heartwarming buka puasa meal at Concorde Hotel Shah Alam in Selangor.

The event, at the hotel’s grand ballroom, welcomed 111 children in an initiative to spread joy.

The children, aged between seven and 12, were from Pusat Jagaan Amal Asyura (Sungai Buloh), Pusat Jagaan Nur Sakinah (Shah Alam), Rumah Kebajikan Anak Yatim Al Munirah (Klang) and Rumah Kasih Harmony Paya Jaras (Sungai Buloh).

The evening’s highlight was a special duit raya presentation by Shah Alam Hotel Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Syed Mohd Yusof Syed Nasir.

As the celebration drew to a close, the children departed with full tummies and happy hearts, carrying bags of goodies that served as a memento of the evening.

In a similar display of community spirit, One World Hotel hosted a meaningful buka puasa meal at its Cinnamon Coffee House in Petaling Jaya.

This gathering was dedicated to the children of Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Hajah Kamariah.

The hotel opened its doors to 35 children, ranging from five to 17 years, alongside five caretakers and the home’s manager Noorsidah Yahya.

Each child was provided with a complete air-dry clay crafting kit by Mosaic Art Studio.

Each kit contained all the necessary materials along with tutorial slides, enabling the children to recreate festive Hari Raya Aidilfitri designs such as ketupat and kuih.

This allowed the youngsters to engage in a tactile, creative activity, learning new skills while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Before proceeding for buka puasa, the children also had the opportunity to capture fun moments at an instant print photobooth set up for the occasion, creating keepsakes to remember the evening.

The hotel also presented the home with several small appliances.

“We hope that by offering our support, we bring joy and practical assistance as well as create lasting memories for these children,” said hotel general manager Chris Niuh.

Ramadan charity was extended further in Kuala Lumpur as Pavilion REIT Malls organised a massive gathering at the Piazza, Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

This event welcomed a diverse group, including institutions under the Social Welfare Department and various local orphanages.

Among the guests were pupils from Sekolah Tunas Bakti Sungai Besi, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tengku Budriah, Asrama Sentosa Kuala Lumpur and Asrama Bahagia Kuala Lumpur.

They were joined by participants from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Asnaf Al Barakh Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ar Rahmaniah and Keluarga Besar Norlina Alawi Bhd.

The Piazza was transformed into a vibrant hub of activity.

While waiting for the call to prayer, children engaged in a batik painting workshop hosted by UCSI University, connecting them with Malaysia’s rich cultural arts.

This was complemented by games organised by Watsons and kiddy rides provided by Toy World.

Special appearances by BoBoiBoy and Papa Zola also delighted young fans.

The event was further enlivened with traditional performances.

Pavilion REIT deputy chief executive officer Patrick Liau said Ramadan was a reminder of the importance of compassion and togetherness.

The gathering created a unified space where families and children could experience the warmth of a shared community.

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur hosted children from Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Qaseh Ibu for a meaningful evening of togetherness at its annual Embrace the Gift of Life “Majlis Makan Malam” initiative.

The day began with the children going to KL Tower on a memorable ride in the KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus.

The children then visited the Sky Deck, where they enjoyed panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline, setting the tone for a day filled with meaningful experiences and joyful moments.

The children were then taken to the hotel, where they were warmly welcomed by staff.

Throughout the evening, the children took part in traditional games, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and connection.

They then broke their fast together with invited guests over a spread prepared by the hotel’s culinary team.

They enjoyed a selection of sweet treats such as ice cream, popcorn plus an array of local and international desserts.

Embodying the spirit of giving during Ramadan, the hotel also presented a RM5,000 donation to the home.

In his speech, the hotel’s general manager Daniel Kaeflein reaffirmed its dedication to community engagement.
