THE Petaling Jaya mayor has reminded city council staff to prioritise road safety in their travels during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

“Be vigilant while on the road and take short breaks at designated rest stops to refresh energy levels,” Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon advised.

He stressed the importance of staying alert in view of the anticipated massive increase in the traffic volume.

He said this after presenting food hampers to 2,050 employees at an Aidilfitri event in Section 4.

The recipients included Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) department heads, contract workers and councillors.

“It is a token of appreciation for your commitment and dedication,” he said.

The hampers contained packets of instant nasi impit, cooking oil, dry noodles, sugar, cordial drinks, wheat flour and soy sauce.

The initiative started in 2007 in appreciation of employees.

“This year MBPJ allocated RM102,500 for it,” said the mayor.

“It is hoped that it will help with Hari Raya preparations and strengthen our bonds,” he added.

Also present at the event were Petaling Jaya deputy mayor Aznan Hassan, enforcement department head Mohd Fauzi Maarop, Development Planning Department director Lee Lih Shyan and Licensing Department director Sharinaz Samsudin.
