SEVERAL issues in Petaling Jaya Selatan, specifically PJS2, dating back to 2012 have yet to be resolved, says Ahmad Akhir Pawan Chik.
The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) councillor for Zone 18, said the then Taman Medan assemblyman Haniza Mohamad Talha had first brought up the roof upgrade at the market in Jalan PJS2D in 2009.
“I raised it again when I was a councillor in 2012. Despite numerous discussions, nothing materialised.
“Now it may cost about RM6mi to upgrade. The delay will cost the council more in the long run,” he said during the MBPJ full board meeting at its headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
According to Ahmad Akhir, the upgrade of Jalan Besar Taman Medan in PJS2 should have been completed in 2024, but remained unfinished.
Ahmad Akhir said the collapsed height restriction barrier between Jalan 12, Taman Dato’ Harun and Taman Maju Jaya, which fell in 2024, had yet to be repaired.
He said the barrier had collapsed five times.
He also highlighted that parking for customers at Medan Selera Jalan 12, Taman Dato’ Harun, was limited.
“The application to increase parking bays was submitted in 2022 and had been approved by the Petaling Land Office.
“However, there had been a delay on MBPJ’s side,” he said.
Another issue was the MBPJ community hall at Jalan PJS2D/11 in Taman Medan, which he said had been closed for several years.
Ahmad Akhir called on MBPJ to be proactive in addressing the many matters that require attention in the Taman Medan and PJS2 area.
In response, mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon said he would chair a meeting today to address the issues raised.
