DBKL to install CCTVs at Bukit Kiara park after Seputeh MP’s car break-in incident

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, with completion targeted for early March.

This follows Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s call for more CCTVs to be installed after her car was broken into while she was jogging in the park on Feb 22.

In a statement, DBKL said the CCTV installation will be carried out within one week.

“DBKL takes the incident and the concerns raised by the public seriously. The safety of Kuala Lumpur citizens as well as the park’s visitors is always our priority,” it said.

Kok reportedly lost RM2,000 in cash and ang pow money, her identity card, several credit cards and other important documents in the incident, which saw her car’s front passenger-side window smashed and her handbag, which had been placed on the footwell of that seat, stolen.

She subsequently lodged a police report at the TTDI police station, as reported by The Star in an article titled “Teresa Kok’s car broken into at Bukit Kiara” on Feb 23.

Brickfields Deputy OCPD Supt Ahmad Firdaus Mustaffa Kamal was quoted as saying that investigations showed that Kok suffered losses totalling RM6,500.

“Three fingerprints were found on her car and have been sent to Bukit Aman for analysis and identification,” he said.
