Pahang has been recognised as Malaysia’s top destination for nature-based travel, says the state’s tourism authority.

Tourism Pahang said a nationwide consumer survey revealed that travellers favoured the state for its serene nature escapes, diverse experiences and commitment to sustainable tourism.

According to the survey, 34.3% of respondents chose Pahang for a nature getaway, with 21.8% identifying Genting Highlands as the primary attraction.

“Pahang also emerged as the state offering the ‘best mix of experiences’ with 28.1% of participants supporting this view,” Tourism Pahang said in a media statement.

Additionally, 30.5% of those surveyed recognised Pahang as the most eco-conscious state, and one committed to sustainable tourism practices.

In a Bernama report, Pahang unity, tourism and culture committee chairman Leong Yu Man said the recognition served as motivation for the state to further develop and promote itself as a premier eco-friendly destination.

“We are optimistic about reaching our target of 15 million local and international visitors in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026,” she said.

Leong emphasised the importance of collaboration among tourism partners, government agencies and industry players to ensure Malaysia remained a welcoming, sustainable and world-class destination.

Resorts World Genting executive vice-president of sales, marketing and public relations Spencer Lee highlighted the company’s role in promoting eco-tourism through educational and immersive experiences.

“Eufloria, an eco-tourism and edu-tourism attraction, is anchored by Malaysia’s largest greenhouse complex, offering nature-based learning through horticulture, artistry and conservation-driven storytelling,” he said.
