MPS declares RM2,000 incentive for workers, councillors on strong revenue performance

SELAYANG Municipal Council (MPS) has declared a RM2,000 financial incentive for workers and councillors after it surpassed revenue collection targets.

MPS president Shahman Jalaludin (pic) said the council successfully collected overall revenue of RM307.95mil, which was 129% on the projected RM239.2mil for 2025.

“This achievement also exceeds the 115% benchmark eligibility for the overall Tier 3 reward for civil servants that the council has practised since 2011.

“So MPS decided to award 1,100 workers and councillors in recognition of their hard work and commitment that contributed to the council’s revenue performance,” he said during the local council’s full board meeting at Menara MPS in Bandar Baru Selayang, Selangor.

“We will distribute the RM2,000 incentive as an appreciation for the commitment they have given.”

He added that the financial incentive was aimed at further motivating workers.

Shahman said payment made on Jan 30 was an estimated allocation of RM2.2mil.

On assessment tax performance, he said that as at Dec 31, 2025, MPS collected RM135.86mil, which was 101.39% on the RM134mil target.

“For assessment tax arrears which totalled RM9.5mil, a total 97% was collected.

“We urge those who have yet to settle their arrears to do so quickly, as action will be taken against defaulters,” he said.

On collecting arrears, Shahman said the local council had begun processing warrants of attachment starting Oct 2, 2025, once the earlier notice period expired.

“A fee of RM100 was imposed on owners with arrears of RM200 and above.

“As at Oct 31, 2025, a total of 38,996 warrants were issued.”

Meanwhile, he said starting this year, MPS would deliver assessment tax bills via WhatsApp.

“This implementation is in line with improvement efforts in the delivery of information to taxpayers,” said Shahman.

“In this regard, taxpayers who have not yet updated their information are required to do so via digitalbil.mps.gov.my to enable bills to be sent through the app.”
