Crowdfunding platform GoCare Malaysia is introducing the 2026 Chinese New Year (CNY) Charity Sale as a continuation of its role in facilitating community care efforts.

The initiative aims to extend public engagement beyond individual cases and encourage longer-term participation in social support initiatives.

Centred on the principle of collective participation and shared responsibility, the charity sale aims to bring together members of the public, businesses and community partners, Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) said in a media statement.

“By transforming festive spending into socially meaningful action, the initiative allows goodwill generated during Chinese New Year to continue benefitting the community beyond the festive period.”

The charity sale will involve partners from various sectors, including food and beverage, personal care, handmade products, and household essentials.

Separately, CRSM said an emergency fundraising initiative earlier this month had helped ease the difficulties of a family involved in a car accident in Johor Jaya.

“The funds raised were fully channelled towards medical treatment, rehabilitation needs and essential living expenses for the affected family,” it said.

The fundraising effort was initiated by Johor CRSM publicity unit chief Chan San San, with GoCare Malaysia serving as the fundraising and outreach platform.

According to GoCare Malaysia advisor Datuk Lim Chong Ly, the initiative demonstrated how collaboration between community leaders, civil society platforms and the public could mobilise support efficiently in times of crisis.

Each contribution, she noted, reflected a collective commitment to ensure that no one faced hardship alone.

She also stressed that meaningful charity laid in sustained community involvement rather than one-off assistance.
