NEWLY appointed councillors of Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) are eager to share their professional expertise in crafting strategic policies and governance.

Klang Dapsy chief Edmund Lim Shu Chzen is hoping to leverage his property and construction management background to provide the city council with data-driven information and strategic advice.

Councillor Aniss Zuryanee Mahadi from Amanah said she planned to apply her background in human resources to drive operational efficiency and promote staff morale.

Pannir Selvam Gopal from PKR said his background in community engagement would be useful in helping streamline city operations through transparent communication and inclusive partnerships.

“We need active listening and mediation to resolve complaints,” he added.

On Jan 19, a total of 23 MBDK councillors were sworn in for the 2026-2027 term before Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain, deputy mayor Mohd Zary Affendi Mohd Arif and department heads.

Eight of them are new faces, including PKR councillors Mohd Zamsol Marian Abd Majid, Aziz Khan Muhammed Ali, Mohamad Shahrul Adnan and Muhammad Azwan Adam, as well as DAP’s Kim Kok Thai.

Fifteen councillors were reappointed, including Selangor Palace representative Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.

DAP’s Ngian Yoke Mooi, who was overseas, will be sworn in later.

Abd Hamid urged the new councillors to contribute their expertise to the city council.

“MBDK is currently coordinating councillors’ portfolios and areas to ensure a mix of experienced members and newcomers is available to tackle increasingly complex urban challenges,” he added.
