AIDILFITRI this year holds extra meaning for a couple from Perling, Iskandar Puteri in Johor, after they welcomed a baby boy on the first day of Raya.

Zuhairi Md Zin and wife Hanisah Sabri, both 31, were overjoyed to welcome their fourth child at 3.01pm via normal delivery at Puteri Specialist Hospital in Johor Baru.

“We were expecting the baby to be born after Hari Raya as the due date was April 12,” Hanisah said in a press release from the hospital.

She said the family had initially planned to return to her hometown in Bahau, Negri Sembilan, for Aidilfitri, before she went into labour.

“Fortunately, I was able to enjoy some traditional festive dishes on the eve of Raya,” she said.

The couple has three other children, aged between five and nine.

Hanisah said she might name the baby “Syawal” in conjunction with the festive month.

Housewife Razanhayatie Abdul Sukor, 34, and husband Muhammad Azim Mokhtar, 39, welcomed a baby girl on the first day of Syawal at KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital in Johor Baru.

The mother-of-four said the early labour came as a surprise as her due date was March 25.

“I had to have an emergency C-section,” said Razanhayatie, adding that the baby was born at 10.48am.

Nurafiqah Lokman and husband Hairul Hafizi Matzin, both 37, also saw the early arrival of their third son on the third day of Syawal.

The couple’s two older children are aged nine and six.

“The baby’s due date was April 1 but he decided to arrive early at noon on March 23,” said Nurafiqah.

“I am happy, though, because I managed to enjoy kuih and traditional dishes and even had time to return to my hometown in Batu Pahat to meet relatives for Hari Raya,” she added.
