Remand extended for five suspects in baby skeleton probe


ALOR GAJAH: The remand of five suspects linked to the discovery of a baby’s skeletal remains in front of a house in Kelemak last week has been extended by three days from Sunday (March 29).

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said on Monday (March 30) that the case was being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth.

On Thursday (March 26), a 19-year-old woman, believed to be the baby’s mother, and her boyfriend were remanded in connection with the discovery of skeletal remains a day earlier.

The baby was believed to have been buried about four months ago.

Police also remanded three members of the woman’s family, namely her mother, elder sister and younger brother, all aged between 16 and 40. – Bernama
