Fresh faces for Klang council


Eight new names join returning veterans in swearing-in ceremony tomorrow

EIGHT new councillors will be sworn-in tomorrow at Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), joining returning members for the 2026-2027 term.

The new PKR faces are said to include Mohd Zamsol Marian Abd Majid, Aziz Khan Muhammed Ali, Pannir Selvam Gopal, Mohamad Shahrul Adnan and Muhammad Azwan Adam.

They are expected to be joined by DAP’s Edmund Lim Shu Chzen and Kim Kok Thai.

Amanah has also introduced a fresh face, Anis Zuryanee Mahadi who will replace Abdul Razak Abdul Rashid.

Kota Raja DAP Wanita chairman Sharon Chia Siu is reportedly making a comeback.

She had served as a councillor from 2018 until 2023 and is tipped to replace Tan Jee Kian.

Chia, a financial planner, said she was glad to be back to serve Klang folk and would focus on improving basic amenities in neighbourhoods.

Meanwhile, Klang Dapsy chief Lim is expected to replace Jacky Ng Chee Eng.

It is understood that Lim, who served as a Shah Alam city councillor last term, is switching places with Ng who will move to Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

Lim has plans to engage with the youth in looking at ways to improve the city.

Fifteen councillors have been reappointed, including Selangor Palace representative Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.

The returning PKR representatives are Erny Afrishah Azizi, Chua Alan, Nyaneswaran Subramaniam and Thangarajah Abdul Kassim.

DAP has retained Ang Kian Wah, Kumanan Perumal, Arulnesan Jayabalan, Lee Sek Wun, Gan Eu Eng, Ngian Yoke Mooi, Lee Fu Haw and Yugarajah Palanisamy.

Amanah’s Halim Mohamed Redzuan and Mohd Rayme Abdul Rahman will also be sworn in.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at MBDK headquarters.

Meanwhile, Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain conveyed his gratitude to the outgoing councillors for their service.

“MBDK is grateful to all councillors who have worked hard to deliver, and we hope the cooperation established will not end here but will continue in the future,” he said.
