WITH Christmas just hours away, there’s a sense of excitement in the air.

The festive mood in Penang has been building up for weeks with jolly tunes signalling the season’s arrival, as well as shops and malls gaily decorated.

They lure shoppers looking for Christmas treasures and photo ops with Santa Claus or in front of Christmas trees.

But above all, it is a time for compassion and love, and spending cherished moments with family and friends.

Churches mark the day with prayer, while charities spread kindness and happiness.

Parades and carolling are also a wonderful way to bring people together.

At the same time, some homes spot elaborate decorations and become local attractions.
