MORE than 900 students and 69 teachers at a school in Muar, Johor, will soon enjoy a more conducive learning environment following upgrades to its library.

SMK (P) Sultan Abu Bakar principal Sanisah Ariff said the contribution from OCBC Bank (M) Bhd’s Muar branch included installation of sliding windows, solid aluminium doors, four inverter air-con units and notice boards at the school library.

The contribution was timely, she said, as the school had been looking for ways to enhance students’ learning experience.

“With the upgrades, students will be able to embrace learning in a more comfortable setting.

“We are truly grateful to the bank for this thoughtful contribution and for coming to our aid with their generosity,” she said.

Muar OCBC branch senior manager Sia Pueh Win said the initiative reflected the bank’s commitment to assessing community needs and supporting long-term development.

“Our aspiration to be Asia’s leading financial services partner for a sustainable future extends beyond our customers.

“We want to be the bank that enables communities around us to realise their aspirations.”

She added that the bank served communities nationwide through #OCBCCares’ three pillars of education, environment and healthcare.

Sia said OCBC believed that upgrading the school library would create a better learning space and ultimately foster stronger reading habits.

“We also conducted a financial literacy and online scams awareness session for the students to learn about money management from a young age.

“Such awareness will ensure better financial management and help protect them from cyber scams,” she added.

OCBC staff also donated more than 50 reference books to the library.
