THE long-awaited completion of drainage upgrade along a stretch of Jalan Kasipillay in Kuala Lumpur is hoped to bring an end to persistent water ponding and flash floods.

The project transformed seven open ditches into covered drains to channel rainwater off the busy arterial road more effectively.

Kampung Kasipillay Rukun Tetangga chairman Victor Joseph said the stretch had been prone to flooding during downpours.

“It caused a lot of hardship and raised safety fears for residents and motorists using the road.

“Sometimes, rainwater would even get into our house porch,” he said.

Joseph extended his gratitude to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) for coordinating the much-needed upgrade.

Yap Yee Vonne, political secretary to Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, said the project took about two months and that each drain was 10m long.
