Students learn to stay drug-free, safe online

Pupils at SJK(C) Kwong Hon in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, attended an awareness talk by the police on the danger of drugs and importance of online safety.

Insp Lim Choong Wei from Narcotics Crime Investigation Department in Bukit Aman broached the topics during the talk organised by Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Providence.

Addressing the issue of narcotics crime, Insp Lim explained the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraged the youngsters to make wise, healthy choices for their future.

He also spoke on cyberbullying, teaching the pupils how to recognise, prevent and report online harassment.

Insp Lim also emphasised the importance of practising respect and responsibility in the digital space.

A total of 470 pupils aged seven to 12 participated in the event, actively engaging during the lively question-and-answer session.

The talk also empowered the youngsters with the knowledge and confidence to make safe, responsible decisions.

“Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur Providence remains committed to its mission of serving the community through educational programmes, development projects and initiatives that inspire positive change,” it said in a statement.
