MORE than 10,000 people took part in a Malaysia Day run in Negri Sembilan, highlighting diversity, harmony and pride for the nation.
The event at d’Tempat Country Club in Bandar Seri Sendayan, near Seremban, included the able bodied and people with disabilities in a mesh of fun run, timed races, arts, games and activities enjoyed by all.
Matrix Malaysia Day Run 2025 marking the 62nd Malaysia Day celebration included participants from Beautiful Gate Foundation for the disabled, Bengkel Seri Sembilan and para athletes under the Negri Sembilan Youth and Sports Department.
Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin said the event reflected what made Malaysia truly special – its diversity, unity and shared joy.
The event, he said, offered something for everyone, with three categories, a joyful 5km Bubble Fun Run, competitive 10km timed run and a 21km half marathon.
Adding to the occasion was a special 1.5km VIP Run, which was participated by government representatives and invited guests.
“At Matrix Concepts, we believe that unity and diversity are the pillars of a strong community,” said Mohamad Haslah.
“We are proud to have included runners of all abilities,” he said, adding that the people with disabilities who took part were inspiring in their determination.
“This year, we are also pleased to extend that spirit of inclusion beyond the track by supporting the artistic community, particularly Association of Art in Charity and Education for Disabled and Disadvantaged (AACE),” Mohamad Haslah said of a Malaysia Day mural project on the sidelines of the event.
“Their creativity and resilience remind us that every individual, regardless of ability, has something meaningful to contribute.”
He said by promoting healthy living and nurturing a strong sense of belonging through shared experiences, Matrix Concepts continued its mission of enriching communities in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly on good health and well-being and sustainable cities and communities.
Complementing the run was a mini carnival featuring games, booths and fun-filled activities for children and adults alike.
The combination of movement, music and merriment made for an unforgettable morning, where participants of all ages came together to celebrate Malaysia Day.
Members of AACE collaborated with a group from Bengkel Seri Sembilan to co-create the 12m-long Malaysia Day mural.
Participants of the run also came together to complete the mural with paint daubed on using sponges, with the total 4,680 individuals helping out earning a place in Malaysia Book of Records for the largest participation in a sponge mural painting.
