Taiwan food product promotion kicks off in KL

NOW is the time to visit a Taiwanese promotion to stock up on your favourite snacks, biscuits, seasoning, instant beverages, instant noodles and sauces.

Taiwan Select is showcasing more than 40 well-known Taiwanese brands and over 300 products at The Food Merchant in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur until Dec 31.

“Among the products on display are 26 new items in Malaysia such as the ‘Hsin Tung Yang’ traditional biscuits, ‘Teaman’ brown sugar milk tea packs, ‘Tang Shop’ black sesame crisps and ‘Mr. Hero’ taro pastries,” said Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs in a statement.

“Malaysians’ long-time favourites such as pineapple cake, mochi and sun cake, as well as 14 halal-certified products such as the ‘Royal Family’ mochi and new products like ‘Kingkung’ instant beverages, ‘Milk 17’ milk sticks will also be showcased.”

The showcase is being exclusively introduced by Malaysian food importer Jimrosa (M) Sdn Bhd.

Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia represen­tative Phoebe Yeh said Taiwan Select has gathered some of the best food brands to cater to the needs and demands of all groups of consumers.

“For example, the 14 meticulously selected halal-certified products allow our Muslim friends to feel at ease while shopping.

“We also offer products with reduced sugar, low additives and are vegetarian-friendly.

“Whether you are a youngster who loves to try new things or a senior who prefers the classics, you can find a product that suits your interest in this section,” said Yeh during the launch.

Also present at the launch were the Taiwan Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur director Sylvia Kao, Jimrosa managing director Willy Seah, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (economic division) director James Chang and The Food Merchant managing director Ivan Tan.

Kao said Taiwan Select currently has more than 10 special sections set up in supermarkets across Klang Valley, Penang and Johor.

In Klang Valley, consumers can find Taiwan Select’s special section at Isetan Lot 10, Mercato TRX, Village Grocer Eko Cheras, Hero Market Bandar Puteri Puchong (ending October) and more.
