Providing compassionate care

The Kasih Hospice Foundation (KHF) is commemorating its 20th anniversary by hosting the Seasons of Life festival, an event designed to assist individuals and their families in preparing for the end-of-life stage.

This extensive event, which kicked off on Aug 21, includes workshops, talks and activities over an eight-week period, ranging from yoga sessions to estate planning seminars.

The programme is crafted to help patients and families approach the end of life with awareness, preparedness and compassion.

Now in its second year, “Life Portraits from the Heart,” in collaboration with Precious Moments Studio, offers families the chance to capture professional portraits.

This ensures they have cherished images, while also providing an opportunity for some personal pampering.

A major highlight of the festival is Community Day on Sept 13, featuring hands-on and inspiring workshops such as “Reflecting on Life Through Nagomi Art”, “Building Mental Fitness” and “An Introduction to Advance Care Planning”.

An interfaith dialogue will also bring together religious leaders from various faiths to discuss how to guide people through serious illness and address life’s challenging questions, such as “Why me? Why now?”

KHF began with just one hospice nurse and a volunteer doctor serving 31 patients in their homes.

Today, it supports over 8,000 patients and families, offering free medical care for those with advanced cancer or end-stage kidney failure, along with essential emotional, psychosocial and spiritual support.

The Seasons of Life festival ends Oct 11, which is also World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

The festival is free and ticketed sessions require pre-registration.
