K-pop and dance forum in Sibu this week, set to attract 350 participants


The Sibu Creative Arts Club will be organising “The First Blast Youth Forum 2025” on the topic of K-pop and dance.

Club chairman Zon Hii Duan Chuan said the forum will be held at two venues.

“The K-Pop Workshop will kick off on Sept 12 at the Sibu Indoor Stadium starting at 3pm. The workshop will be conducted by international instructors who will guide participants in professional dance techniques and stage performances.

“The next day, the Forum Session will be held at Rinwood Hall, Kingwood Hotel, starting at 9am,” he said at a press conference.

Hii said the forum will feature invited panels from the Philippines, namely Joze, Malvin (Indonesia), Tiffany Teoh and First Blood from Malaysia, who will share their experiences and views on K-Pop culture and dance, as well as fostering cultural exchange between the countries.

“The highlight of the forum is the Showcase Performance, which gives youth participants a chance to showcase their talents on stage,” he added.

Organising chairman Jasmine Tou Siew Han said the forum focuses on how K-Pop and dance becoming a tool for self-expression among youth, the role of art in uniting communities, as well as career opportunities in the performing arts industry.

“In addition, the health benefits of dance activities are also highlighted, including in terms of physical, mental and personal development,” he said.

The forum is supported by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng and Business Events Sarawak.

Representative of Bukit Assek service centre councillor Kiing Teck Ho said that the forum is expected to attract between 250 to 350 participants from youth who are interested in the field of modern arts and culture.

Participant can register for free on the day of event, he said.

“We also provide a link on The First Blast Youth Forum’s social media page to facilitate online registration,” he explained.

Event’s consultant Mike Tiang, said the forum is a platform for learning, cultural exchange and building a strong arts community among the younger generation.

“Through this forum, we want to ignite the youth’s passion to create, share and build the future through the art they love,” he added.
