DESPITE having been bullied, a Year Four pupil in Johor is still excited about returning to school next week.
The 10-year-old, who is recovering from a concussion following a second bullying incident this year, has been discharged from hospital.
His mother, Siti Suhana Misdi, 40, said the boy had been given medical leave and was looking forward to seeing his two close friends who stood by him when he was getting bullied.
“As parents, we are worried because he still wakes up crying from nightmares.
“However, thanks to his friends, he is recovering and going back to his cheerful self,” she said at their home in Taman Universiti, Skudai.
The boy, who is also a nasal cancer patient, was reported to have suffered a concussion in February after being hit in the head at a religious school. On Aug 7, he was beaten up again at a primary school in Skudai and hospitalised.
Siti Suhana, who has six children, said her son had undergone at least six surgeries since 2022 for his health issues, including chronic rhinitis, breathing difficulties, blurred vision and hernia.
“He has always been strong throughout the two years of medical treatment and even kept the bullying from us so that he could continue going to school.
“His recovery from the latest incident will take even longer due to his illnesses.”
She added that the boy’s condition worsened after the bullying, leaving him with frequent headaches, dizziness and fatigue.
“He will have to go for weekly follow-up treatments.”
Siti Suhana said although the bully’s family had apologised, her family will not withdraw the police report, stressing that the case must be resolved through legal means.
“I have no intention of withdrawing the report despite facing pressures from certain parties,” she said, adding that there were also some who dismissed the case’s severity just because it involved primary school pupils.
Separately, the family received RM1,000 worth of groceries and essentials from hypermarket Econsave.
