SARAWAK’S Flying Doctor Service (SFDS) has received medical monitoring equipment from the US Civil-Military Support Element in Malaysia, boosting the service’s capacity to reach the state’s rural and indigenous communities.
The donation includes portable ultrasound machine, mini oxygen concentrator, customised medical bag, digital transcutaneous bilirubinometer, portable power station, nebuliser, automated external defibrillator, vital signs monitor, digital weighing scale, thermoscan and coldbox.
In a media statement, the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said these essential tools would expand healthcare delivery for the people of Sarawak.
US Embassy charge d’affaires David Gamble and state health director Dr Veronica Lugah were present at the handover ceremony at Kuching International Airport.
“The US is proud to partner with Sarawak to improve healthcare access for remote communities,” Gamble said.
The donation to SFDS is the second phase of a RM250,000 package of medical equipment provided to Sabah and Sarawak, reinforcing strong US partnerships with both states in healthcare resilience.
