Campus radio station recognises excellence

The official online campus radio of International Islamic Uni­versity Malaysia (IIUM) hosted its annual dinner at an event space in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

The evening celebrated IIUM.FM’s achievements and gathered students, alumni and collaborators.

It was launched by Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences dean Prof Dr Shukran Abd Rahman, together with Communi­cation Department head Assoc Prof Dr Teng­ku Siti Aisha Tengku Azzman and IIUM.FM advisor Zarita Kasim.

In his opening speech, Prof Shukran praised the station’s evolving role.

“IIUM.FM is a platform for the students to find their voice, sharpen their critical thinking and contribute meaningfully to society.

“In the age of information overload, it is vital that we nurture media practitioners who uphold adab (etiquette), ethics and excellence,” he said.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of IIUM.FM awards recognising outstanding contributions in various categories – Best Radio Programme, Best Podcast Show, Best Radio Announcer, Best Podcast Host and Best Ground Event of the Year.

The event also witnessed the exclusive premiere of the official IIUM.FM theme song, Your Campus Radio, which was fully composed using AI-generated tools.

IIUM.FM is a 24-hour online streaming radio station which was launched in 2010.

It is managed by students from the Communication Department under the Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences.
