Carnival feel, diverse treasures at hybrid auction

The auction carnival in Kuala Lumpur has properties, vehicles and artworks under the hammer and under one roof.

A UNIQUE auction closed out its inaugural edition with eight hours of seamless and competitive bidding for items across different categories.

The hybrid auction in Kuala Lumpur attracted over 300 on-site and online bidders for properties, automobiles and artworks.

An outdoors session also allowed curious onlookers to see the workings of an auction, while live entertainment including a lion dance performance entertained guests.

A joint collaboration between industry players Ng Chan Mau & Co Sdn Bhd (NCM Co), Owner Auction and Lapan Art Auction, the event brought buyers, investors and art collectors under one roof.

“We’re thrilled with the success of February Auction Carnival 2025,” said NCM Co director and auctioneer Low Chee Hian.

“The fusion of properties, automobiles and art created a truly special atmosphere where serious collectors and casual bidders alike could experience the thrill of the auction process.

“It was an exciting celebration of value, creativity and innovation that we are eager to build upon for the next event,” he said.

With a diverse selection of properties up for grabs, bidders had the opportunity to secure deals on a wide range of assets, from a commercial property sold at just RM7,000 to the highest-value property sold at RM1.348mil.

Some newly completed units, featuring original developer fittings and partial furnishings, also drew aggressive bidding.

In the automobile category, notable sales included a Mercedes-Benz CLA 180 which surpassed its RM125,000 reserve price through competitive bidding to sell at RM154,000.

Meanwhile, a 2023 Proton X70 sold for nearly half the cost of a brand-new unit.

Additionally, the art auction featured exclusive collections from emerging artists such as Rull Mackenzie and direct consignment by reputable art galleries.

In the Owner Auction segment conducted outdoors, many people hung around to witness the proceedings as they had never seen an auction in process.

Aside from the entertainment, on-site financial consultant booths further enriched the experience for attendees.

All successful on-site bidders walked away with free gifts.

The grand prize, a 65-inch TV set, was awarded to the highest property bidder, while a water jet was presented to the top automobile bidder.
