KLANG Royal City Council (MBDK) held a one-day strategic planning workshop to replace the 2022-2025 action framework.
Klang mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said the Strategic Planning Session 2025-2030 discussions were with heads of department and city councillors.
“Our in-depth discussions helped to provide a framework for the council’s future plans.
“We explored new approaches on how employees could better serve ratepayers,” he said after the council’s full board meeting.
Abd Hamid said during the discussions held at a hotel in Johor Baru, there was also a brainstorming session on ways to beautify the city, improve services and cleanliness as well as digitalisation.
“Our open discussion brought about suggestions and ideas from councillors.
“All agreed that engagement with residents was important and community-led priorities must be addressed with a sense of urgency.”
Ideas or complaints submitted by the public must be given consideration and site visits should be mandatory, he added.
“Councillors in charge of each zone must get public input and raise their problems for discussion,” he said.
Abd Hamid said among other matters discussed were civic enhancement, infrastructure and community engagement, neighbourhood and drainage network cleanliness.
Selangor Palace representative Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi said open discussions offered a great opportunity to think of new approaches to improve Klang as a city.
“During the discussion with the councillors, what really resonated with me was working for a more sustainable city.
“We have decided whenever we make decisions, we need to include everyone for a better outcome,” he said.
On another matter, Abd Hamid said a beach clean-up programme would start today at Tanjung Harapan and Bagan Hailam.
