MELAKA: Professionals and corporate leaders serving as associate officers can play a significant role in raising public awareness of the Melaka Civil Defence Force (APM) and its life-saving functions.
Melaka APM director Lft.Kol (PA) Kamarulsyah Muslim said their expertise and extensive networks could help the force reach communities at the grassroots while supporting training and humanitarian initiatives.
“APM’s role goes beyond emergency rescue operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster management.
"We also equip the public with essential rescue skills and knowledge,” he said.
He was speaking at the launch of the new name of the Melaka APM Corporate Associate Officers Association (PPBKAPM Melaka) and its town hall session at a leading hotel here on Saturday (Sept 12).
Also present were Melaka APM deputy director Major (PA) Nor Farhani Mat Husin and PPBKAPM Melaka president Associate Col (PA) Mike Thein Kim Siang.
Kamarulsyah said Melaka APM’s associate officers included doctors, lawyers and corporate figures who could contribute their professional knowledge towards organising training programmes and participating in humanitarian missions during disasters.
“All of you joined APM with the intention of serving the country and your contributions are deeply appreciated as part of the force,” he said.
He added that associate officers could broaden APM’s community outreach by helping to conduct life-saving and flood-relief management training for people from all segments of society.
"Melaka APM will continue supporting its associate officers and nurturing their spirit of volunteerism so that they remain committed to serving the community,” he said.
