The abandoned food court in Kepong Baru has been turned into a rubbish dumping ground.
SOME Kepong Baru residents are against plans to open a food court in the area, pointing to lack of parking and the high number of restaurants there.
The built but abandoned food court is located at a junction connecting Jalan Vista Mutiara 1 and Jalan Vista Mutiara.
Community activist Yee Poh Ping said both residents and business owners were already grappling with a shortage of parking spaces.
“The food court has been abandoned since the movement control order but there are rumours it might be opening soon.
“There are plenty of shops in the area and the lack of parking will only hurt business owners,” he said
Yee pointed out that Jalan Kepong Baru already had a hawker street with plenty of food options.
“Residents returning home after work also face difficulties finding parking as there are nearly 3,000 mixed commercial and residential units nearby.”
He called on Kuala Lumpur City Hall to build a carpark or community hall at the site instead.
Yee also urged the local authority to clean up the premises as it had become a rubbish dumping ground. — By MEGAT SYAHAR
