LEADING Australian retailer Harvey Norman has come to Selayang, Selangor, in a move that saw its 37th store unveiled in Malaysia.
The grand opening at 168 Park Mall introduced a two-in-one store concept that sells electrical appliances, computers and consumer electronics in one space.
The store is strategically located to serve both residential and commercial communities.
The ceremony was attended by Lot168 Selayang Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Edward Lum and Harvey Norman Malaysia’s chief operating officer Jonathan Toh.
Alongside Toh were small appliances and personal care division assistant general manager Yvonne Chin, electrical division general manager Ian Bushy Martin as well as computers and communications division general manager Danny Lau.
Toh said the new store reflected Harvey Norman’s aim to provide modern, accessible and innovative solutions.
He noted that Selayang was an ideal location as it was a growing residential and commercial hub.
“The area’s population of young professionals and families seeking a quality lifestyle aligns with our vision to enhance modern living for Malaysians.
“This milestone reflects our expansion in Malaysia as we bring along cutting-edge technologies, innovative home solutions and quality products.
“Our two-in-one concept store offers an integrated shopping experience,” he said.
To celebrate the grand opening, Harvey Norman at 168 Park Mall hosted a weekend of shopping rewards from Jan 17 to 19.
Customers participated in a RM1 lucky draw featuring prizes such as large-screen TV sets, smartphones and other guaranteed gifts, upon fulfilling a minimum spend criteria.
With the store’s launch coinciding with the Chinese New Year season, Harvey Norman has curated special festive promotions for shoppers.
This includes electrical appliances such as ovens, air fryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, smart TV, soundbars, high-performance cameras, smartphones and the latest computer gadgets and devices.
From top-of-the-line aritificial intelligence devices to budget-friendly options, Harvey Norman caters to a wide spectrum of shopper needs, said the retailer.
“More than just a retail space, the new store embodies Harvey Norman’s vision of fostering community connections and exceptional customer experiences.
“The ‘Shop with Confidence’ promise offers peace of mind through price guarantees, same-day delivery and a 14-day exchange policy.
“Flexible payment options – including instalments of up to 60 months and “Buy Now, Pay Later” services – make it more financially accessible for shoppers,” the chain store’s management added.
Harvey Norman further stated that its expansion across Malaysia aligned with the recent growth in the country’s retail industry, which is projected to experience a 4% increase in 2025.
