THE flood mitigation project along Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) near IOI Mall, Puchong, is delayed again.

Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Zone 16 councillor Lee Jen Uyin said that while work was ongoing, progress had been hindered by weather conditions and traffic management issues.

These factors had restricted the contractors’ working hours.

“It is estimated to be completed within the first quarter of this year,” she told StarMetro.

Chew Ru Xuan, who is press secretary to Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han, said the project was estimated to reach 75% completion by this month.

“Ng will provide the updates in an upcoming announcement,” she said when contacted.

The project had been plagued by several delays and was supposed to be completed last month.

The RM5.7mil cost is being borne by IOI Corporation Bhd, highway concessionaire Litrak and Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

The project was announced on Nov 5, 2023, following a series of flash floods that saw the mall’s carpark and lower floor submerged under 0.3m of water.

It was reported on March 18 last year that the project, which was initially scheduled to be completed the month before, had been delayed to October due to realignment of a pipe passing beneath the highway.

On Sept 2, it was announced that the project had been delayed until December to allow for the completion of the jacking excavation work beneath the LDP. ― By MEGAT SYAHAR
