Fun runs, durian trays, cashback offers and attractive discounts are being offered by Mydin hypermarket as the chain celebrates its 67th anniversary with its OhMydin! Festival this year.
Greeting guests and supporters at the launch at the Subang Jaya branch, Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin said the campaign, held in collaboration with 55 strategic partners until Nov 11, was designed to reward loyal customers.
Enlivening this year’s campaign are fun runs which will take place at four of the hypermarket branches in Subang Jaya tomorrow, Melaka International Trade Centre on Sept 21, Bandar Baru Tunjong in Kelantan on Oct 19 and Petra Jaya in Sarawak on Nov 9.
“For each registration in the fun run, RM5 will be channelled to the chain’s corporate social responsibility programme to support the less fortunate.
“Participants in the 6.7km fun run will also stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes, including Oppo devices, cash vouchers and hampers,” said Ameer.
He added that some 2,000 participants had already registered and there would be goodie bags for those who complete the run.
He said the event would not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also foster unity among Malaysia’s diverse communities.
At the launch, Ameer said he would also be taking part in the fun run at the Subang Jaya branch.
“I will run half the distance and walk the rest,” he said.
Another campaign highlight is the “Jom Durian” programme, which will take place at their branches in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, on Sept 7 and Pelangi Indah in Johor Baru on Oct 5 where shoppers will be able to enjoy a tray of durians for as low as RM100.
Other promotions include significant savings for Meriah loyalty cardholders and cashback offers when they use Atome, MCash, Moby Islamic and SPayLater at any of the hypermarket’s outlets.
Meriah cardholders are also eligible to buy a table fan priced at RM84.90 for only RM30 with purchases worth RM150 or above in a single receipt.
This offer is valid until Sunday.
The Meriah card comes in two colours. The blue one is available to all for an annual fee of RM12 while the silver card is reserved for retailers at an annual fee of RM20.
Expecting the hypermarket chain to double its sales during the campaign, Ameer said the attractive pricing structure was the result of the support of its suppliers and customers.
“Our margins are very low and a lot of our profit is given back to consumers.
“So for this campaign, though our sales will be doubled, our margins will not.
“This is due to the number of giveaways.
“In the end, the advantage goes to our mall tenants as the campaign will result in higher foot falls,” said Ameer.
