St Nicholas Convent alumni, coming from as far as Australia and Singapore, sharing a wonderful time together.
TWENTY former students of SM Convent (formerly St Nicholas Convent) from the class of 1976 gathered to reminisce during a heartwarming reunion at a cafe in Alor Setar, Kedah.
The event, organised in true muhibbah spirit by Nur Aziah Yahaya, Noor Hayati Zainuddin, co-planner V. Vasantha and a few others, was a testament to enduring friendships and memories.
The alumni travelled from as far as Australia and Singapore to be part of the special occasion.
Their reunion was filled with joy and nostalgia as they reflected on the happy, challenging and mischievous moments of their school days.
“While the specifics of our Science, Mathematics and grammar lessons may have faded, the gratitude we feel for our teachers remains strong,” said Vasantha.
“At the reunion, it was clear that our professions, status, and other societal distinctions didn’t matter.
“There was empathy as we listened to each other’s stories and life’s challenges.
“We were able to turn embarrassing stories into humour — with ‘deodorant’ poses!”
She said laughter filled the air as they celebrated not only the camaraderie of their youth but also the team spirit and values instilled in them during those formative years.
“These experiences have shaped us into the resilient, steadfast and successful individuals we are today,” she said.
