TATA Consultancy Services (TCS) has been honoured with “Pioneer Sustainable Development Action Recognition” at United Nations Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) Forward Faster Sustainability Awards 2023.

The recognition celebrates the transformative impact of CANSupport, a TCS initiative on paediatric cancer care in Malaysia.

Developed in collaboration with Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), CANSupport is equipped with an app that meets the healthcare needs of children undergoing cancer treatment through features such as symptom tracking, travel assistance for treatment and a doctor’s dashboard powered by data analytics.

TCS Malaysia Sdn Bhd country head Jeevan Rajoo said UNGCMYB recognition affirmed their pursuit of humanising technology through Tech for Good, as embodied by CANSupport.

“To date, we have impacted 1,694 lives, including 726 direct beneficiaries and 968 indirect beneficiaries of the programme.

“CANSupport is on track to potentially engage more patients in 2024 to assist their fight against cancer.

“Our strategic partnership with MAG and NCSM is the cornerstone of our success.

“Their continuous support has allowed us to integrate our technology with essential logistics and healthcare services, thereby providing a comprehensive, patient-centred service,” he said.

NCSM managing director Dr Murallitharan Munisamy said their collaboration with TCS was pivotal, adding, “This recognition fuels our determination to continue making a difference in the lives of children affected by this devastating disease.”

MAG group chief sustainability officer Philip See said they were honoured to contribute to this collaborative effort aimed at alleviating challenges faced by families and patients, making it easier for them to access essential care and follow-up treatment.

“We remain committed to our role as the national carrier of the country by ensuring safe and seamless travel for children seeking essential treatment,” he said.

UNGCMYB executive director Faroze Nadar said the CANSupport initiative showcased the profound impact that technology could have in the healthcare sector.
