A SPECIAL committee will be set up to improve the economy in Sarawak’s Ngemah constituency.

Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said, “Through this committee, we aim to produce more entrepreneurs in line with my objective of improving the infrastructure and offering more job opportunities for young people there.

“For a start, I will provide an allocation of RM100,000 from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant for 20 entrepreneurs to get involved in various types of businesses.”

Anyi said this at the sugu tinggi (Iban headgear) handicraft workshop at the Kanowit District public library in Sibu.

On the three-day workshop organised by Mitz Agency and supported by the Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Ministry, Anyi said that it benefitted participants in many ways.“We can create high-quality products to attract interest.

“From an economic perspective, workshop participants can possibly open a shop or sell products online as every programme organised must yield returns for us,” he added.

He assured participants that although starting a business was not easy as it required funds, they still had a good chance of success if they worked hard.
