HARVEY Norman marks the brand’s entry into Sabah with its first outlet in Kota Kinabalu.

The Harvey Norman Suria Sabah Superstore is part of the brand’s vision of setting up 80 outlets nationwide by 2028.

Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe attended the grand opening at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall.

“At Harvey Norman, we understand the needs of our customers and strive to bring convenience right to their doorstep,” said Harvey Norman Asia managing director Kenneth Aruldoss in a statement.

“We are setting out to further cement and enlarge the brand’s footprint in the country.

“With this new opening, gone are the days when our Sabahan friends would have to fly to the peninsula to shop from Harvey Norman.

“Now, they can buy their products directly from our Suria Sabah Superstore,” added Aruldoss.

He said Harvey Norman was committed to being conveniently accessible to customers, with the inclusion of a plethora of services such as product exchange and easy payment options for Kota Kinabalu residents.

These include payment flexibility with options such as 0% interest instalments for up to 36 months on all major bank credit cards.

For non-credit card holders, there are other services available as well such as AEON Credit, eWallet payments (including GrabPay and Boost) and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options (including LatitudePay).

Phoong said, “In this day and age, people are becoming more discerning and will seek out products that enhance their quality of life.”

He added that demand for high-quality electrical appliances, IT and mobile devices, furniture and bedding products were on the rise, and Harvey Norman’s foray into Sabah and Sarawak proved to be an opportune and timely one.

The opening of the new outlet with the company’s extensive range of products “will bring about positive changes in the industry and enhance Sabahans’ way of life”, he said.

Makamewah Sdn Bhd managing director Tan Koon Yee said, “We are absolutely thrilled for Suria Sabah to be the destination of choice for Harvey Norman’s first store in Sabah.

“We believe we can deliver the best shopping experience to our esteemed shoppers with Harvey Norman’s extensive range of the latest mobile devices, high-tech electrical appliances, trendy furniture and more.”

Makamewah is developer and operator of Suria Sabah Shopping Mall.

Aside from large screen TVs in exclusive models, as well as laptops and smartphones, Harvey Norman Suria Sabah Superstore has sofas and dining sets, and recliners from locally assembled options to world renowned brands like IMG, La-Z-Boy and Stressless.

There are also more than 60 mattress and bed frame brands, including Sealy and Serta.

Harvey Norman also offers customer-centric features such as price guarantees, same-day delivery, product care options and 14-day exchange.
